Goal #1
Our primary goal is that 70% of students will achieve typical or above typical growth in reading by the end of the 2019-2020 school year as measured by Pathways of Progress on the end of year Acadience assessment.
Measurements
We will use the end of year Acadience Pathways of Progress assessment to determine if students achieved the schoolwide reading goal.
The following wording for Goal #2 was motioned by Lacy Richards and seconded by Laurie Kite. All council members voted in agreement. The approved wording change for Goal #2 is as follows:
Goal #2
All K-6 students will be instructed in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) using Project Lead the Way (PLTW) curriculum.
Measurements
One PLTW module will be taught in each grade level by the end of the 2019-20 school year.
PLTW Curriculum: PLTW curriculum is adapting to match new science standards. Not all modules are ready to be purchased. Some of the modules we currently have can be shifted to other grades. Country View has one module per grade that meets the current standards, with the exception of first grade. We plan to purchase a module for first grade for use this year. Currently, K-3 are not required to teach science this year; however, next year all grades will be required to teach science to mastery.
Council Membership: We discussed the need to add more parent members to our council. Jake Draper motioned that we extend an invitation to the two additional parents who were on the Fall ballot. Lacy Richards seconded the motion. All council members voted in agreement. Chris Davis motioned to extend an invitation to Marci Thorsted, PTA President, to serve on the council as well. The motion was seconded by Cindy Waters. All council members voted in agreement. Heather Hales will contact those parents.
