Principle's Message

Dear Country View Families:

Can you believe how fast this school year has flown by? Your students are the greatest and we are grateful for the opportunity to work with them and watch them grow. We have already started preparing for your students’ success next year. We realize children have unique personalities, learning styles, behaviors, strengths and weaknesses. These characteristics are taken into consideration and we put a great deal of thought into creating a positive and productive learning environment for all students.

Creating those learning environments and making class assignments is a complex process with many factors to be considered. Teachers are assigned after balanced and equitable classes have been formed. If you feel your student has unique circumstances or needs that MUST be considered, please call the school at 452-4400 and make an appointment to discuss those concerns.

Appointments will be scheduled between March 28 – April 1 and April 11-15th. (No further requests will be accepted after that time frame).

At the time of your appointment, please bring a letter which includes the following information:

  • At the top of the letter, list your name, telephone number, the name of your student and the grade he/she will be entering for 2016-2017.
  • Describe your student’s educational need(s), circumstance or learning challenge.
  • Specify what you feel would be helpful for your student’s success in a positive tone without mention of teachers’ names.
  • Prepare one letter per student.

Note: In an effort to do a better job creating a good learning environment, the letter may be shared with staff members.

Please come with an educational reason for a request. A review of the concerns will be made and honored as circumstances warrant, providing good class compositions can be maintained. We appreciate your support for this important process. Every effort will be made to facilitate your students’ success in the coming year.

First grade's newsletter submission:

We are excited for all the fun things to look forward to in March! We are excited about spring and beginning our 5th Treasure’s Reading book!

Throughout the month of March we will continue to teach and practice the diphthongs, such as aw, au, ou, ow, oy, oi. These are very difficult for first graders to remember, so please continue to practice these nightly with the homework we send home.

Third quarter ends on March 17th, so we will be doing our end-of-quarter testing March 14th through the 17th. Please make sure your child is in attendance that week. These are very difficult tests to make up for students who are absent.

Our class spring parties will be on April 1st from 12:15 to 1:30. We are always in need of parent helpers, so please contact your child’s teacher if you are willing to help with the party. J

Spring break will be April 4th through April 8th.

We appreciate our wonderful parents who volunteer their time to help all of the first graders succeed! It takes a lot of time and effort on everyone's part, so we thank all of you for your encouragement and support.

Have a marvelous March!

Thank you to all of the parents who helped with our Valentine party! The kids loved it! Hopefully you have been able to see or hear about the ClassDojo videos on growth mindsets. When we challenge our brain, it gets stronger! Dr. Suess day will be celebrated this Friday, so wear your favorite book character costume. On April 29th, we will be going to the Environmental Center and on May 13th, we will be riding the FrontRunner to Salt Lake City to visit the Clark Planetarium and see where the Jazz play. Keep reading and working on math! Second grade is great!!!

Hello Parents and Students,

Can you believe we only have a few of months left of school? Crazy!  PLEASE keep practicing multiplication facts at home with your student. Our fact of the month is 8. We will also be exploring deeper into fractions this month in our mathematics studies. All the problems seem to have something to do with food. We get very hungry when we do our fractions assignments!

We will be going to Sand Ridge Junior High to watch their school musical on March 9th. PLEASE make sure your child is on time that day. The bus will leave at 8:40 sharp. We will not be able to wait for tardy students.

Students have until March 17th to reach their Book Adventure goal of 2000 points. Make sure they are reading 20 minutes every night and recording their minutes on their reading calendars.  The BA party will be on Friday, March 18th from 2:00-3:00 PM.  A note will go home later with more details.

Teacher market day will be on Thursday, March 17th from 1:00 – 3:00 PM.  We could use parent volunteers to help us run the market.  Students must have all assignments must completed in order to attend.

Our recorder concert is quickly approaching. Mark your calendars! The recorder recital will be Wednesday, April 27th at 6:00 PM.  Please make sure they are practicing their recorders. We will also have an art auction the same night. The kids are working on some wonderful masterpieces that will be up for auction at this fun event.

Thanks for all of your support,
The 3rd Grade Teachers
